Purpose
Reignsound™ Web is intended to let Reignsound™ websites share improvements without requiring every site to be rebuilt independently. The standard describes the target architecture; it does not claim that a shared runtime already powers the current Reignsound™.org site.
Architecture
- Core: shared foundations such as design tokens, typography, layout, accessibility behavior, navigation patterns, alerts, and provenance presentation.
- Modules: reusable capabilities such as forms, signup flows, dialogs, account interfaces, payment interfaces, and common kits. Sensitive modules require security review and integration-specific configuration.
- Site configuration: explicit choices for identity, theme, navigation, enabled modules, content, and behavior.
- Overrides: documented site-specific differences that intentionally take precedence over shared defaults.
- Site release: the particular website's content, configuration, and deployment revision, tracked separately from the shared technology version.
Upgrade and override rules
- Compatible shared improvements should be reusable across sites through controlled versioning and release channels.
- Site configuration must remain stable unless a migration explicitly changes it.
- Overrides must be visible, intentional, and testable; for example, a site configured to always use dark mode must not silently revert to the shared default.
- Breaking changes require migration guidance, compatibility checks, and a rollback path.
- Authentication, personal data, payments, and signup behavior must not change in production solely because a visual component was updated. These modules require relevant functional and security tests.
Versioning and provenance
Reignsound™ Web's framework version is distinct from an individual site's release version. A site provenance record should identify the technology version actually used, the site release or deployment reference, source revision, configuration revision, enabled modules, and relevant overrides. Unknown or unverified values should be marked as such rather than inferred.
Canonical records and generated views
The long-term system should keep one canonical record for each governed concept and store relationships as typed, queryable records. Public pages, onboarding handbooks, summaries, indexes, and analytics should be generated as views where practical. Derived counts and classifications should be computed from source records or referenced materialized views—not manually copied into every document.
Current implementation status
Reignsound™.org is currently a standalone HTML/CSS website. Reignsound™ Web is a pre-v1 standard and target architecture, not yet a deployed universal runtime. The first implementation should be small and needs-driven: establish a shared core and registry of reusable modules before migrating sites or promising automatic universal updates.
